Mission
The CPS DEI Committee, made up of faculty, staff, and student volunteers, aims to cultivate a climate that promotes human dignity, mutual respect, and an appreciation for the uniqueness of e²¹³¦³ó i²Ô»å¾±±¹¾±»å³Ü²¹±ô in our CPS communities. The Committee promotes inclusion and equity while valuing the rich perspectives and cultures in our academic and co-curricular programs. The Committee also consults and collaborates with other committees, offices, and organizations to accomplish these ends. The Committee makes recommendations to the Office of The Dean, advocating for an inclusive college climate. Periodically, the Committee updates the CPS communities on its work, recruits support, initiates DEI campus projects, and sponsors student programs.Ìý

DEI Committee Working Groups

First-Generation
The first-generation group coordinates a First-Generation College Celebration week and development of UNH First-Generation College initiatives to create more awareness of the first-gen identity across all UNH campuses and modalities.

Cultural Awareness
The cultural awareness group maintains monthly DEI calendar updates and cultural celebrations, and works in collaboration with the Student Government Association to co-sponsor a few events each semester.

LGBTQIA+
The LGBTQIA+ group provides trainings, resources, support and other outreach for the CPS community in collaboration with community partners and UNH campus partners.

Education
The education group hosts community-wide trainings (outside funding/sponsorship to offer trainings with incentives), bringing in speakers/outside organizations, book club or topic discussions for future CCAA meetings. There is an opportunity for members of this working group to work with New Hampshire Listens to offer community conversations and a workshop series for the College of Professional Studies on campus and virtually.Ìý

Join NH Listens for a 45-minute informative and interactive session aimed at sharing bite-sized tips and resources from our toolbox for community engagement and facilitation. The role of a facilitator in many spaces is to support the group in working with and moving through conflict. Conflict tension can serve as a useful space for the group to grow and go deeper into an issue, often leading to more thoughtful solutions. This training on facilitating through conflict will help you build the skills to identify conflict, hold space for resolution, and know when to intervene as a facilitator.
